Keuntungan dan Risiko Berinvestasi di Perusahaan Food and Beverage

Keuntungan

Bisnis cenderung defensif: Terutama perusahaan dengan produk berupa bahan-bahan pokok. Hal ini dikarenakan ketika ada gejolak ekonomi, produk mereka akan tetap dicari oleh masyarakat. Sehingga permintaan di pasar cenderung stabil.
Ikut terdorong ketika ekonomi ekspansif: 50-60% produk domestik bruto (PDB) Indonesia ditopang oleh konsumsi masyarakat. Jadi apabila ekonomi nasional tumbuh, maka indikasinya akan ada potensi konsumsi perusahaan food and beverage yang terdaftar di BEI juga ikut tumbuh.
Dividen stabil: Mengingat bisnisnya cenderung stabil, beberapa perusahaan mature biasanya akan memberikan dividen yang stabil dan konsisten pula. Sebagai informasi, dividen adalah keuntungan atau laba perusahaan yang kemudian dibagi-bagikan kepada pemegang saham dalam persentase tertentu.

Risiko

Bahan baku: Sebagian perusahaan food and beverage yang terdaftar di BEI harus mengimpor bahan baku. Alasannya karena kebutuhan bahan baku tidak tersedia di Indonesia seperti misalnya gandum dan kedelai. Sehingga jika terjadi gejolak ekonomi seperti perang atau masalah distribusi dan persediaan di negara penghasil, maka perusahaan akan terdampak secara negatif akibat dari kenaikan harga bahan baku.
Nilai kurs rupiah: Ketika nilai tukar rupiah melemah, perusahaan pengimpor bahan baku otomatis akan terbebani. Sebab aktivitas impor biasanya menggunakan dolar AS.
Pasar saham reli: Sektor ini menjadi salah satu yang ditinggalkan ketika indeks saham sedang reli atau dalam fase uptrend. Investor cenderung mencari saham-saham berisiko tinggi dan meninggalkan saham-saham defensif seperti food and beverage guna mencari pengembalian investasi yang menurut mereka lebih atraktif.

Prospek Perusahaan Food and Beverage yang Terdaftar di BEI

Perusahaan food and beverage mendapatkan katalis positif dari sisi konsumsi masyarakat Indonesia yang masih akan solid. Hal ini terlihat dari beberapa indikator:

Indeks Keyakinan Konsumen (IKK) masih optimis di atas 100.
Angka inflasi relatif terjaga.
Kenaikan Upah Minimum Provinsi (UMP) rata-rata 7,2% di 2023.

Selain itu tahun 2023 sebagai tahun politik akan menambah daya beli masyarakat. Sebab pada tahun-tahun politik peredaran uang dan perputaran ekonomi relatif lebih cepat didorong oleh adanya belanja pemilu.

Namun, investor tetap harus mencermati sejumlah downside risk pada perusahaan food and beverage yang terdaftar di BEI:

Fluktuasi harga bahan baku.
Penurunan nilai rupiah.
Cukai plastik yang berpotensi diberlakukan di tahun 2023
